Obituary Notice

Peacefully surrounded by his family on 6th October 2025, Bill aged 88 years of Accrington and formerly of Liverpool. The devoted and much loved husband of Elsie, loving dad of Susan, Lindsey, Brian and Jacqueline, dear father-in-law of Les, Bryan, Debbie and Alan, cherished grandad of Lee, Lindsey, Annemarie, Toni, Daniel, Lucy, Lauren, Ashleigh, Samuel, Dean, Andrew and Hayley, a loved great-grandad, a dear brother, uncle, relative and friend.

Proud Liverpudlian, Bill was born and raised in Liverpool before embarking on career in the Royal Navy working as a chef, his career saw him travel around the world and it was during his service that he met the love of his life and future wife Elsie whilst at a dance at the Guild Hall, Dartmouth. Following his service he worked as a bus driver, coalman, bus conductor and builder before making the move back north settling in Accrington working as a HGV driver. Bill loved his social life and could often be found chatting away to his mates whilst enjoying a pint or two. He was a keen animal lover and loved to settle to watch wildlife documentaries and over the years he gave a loving home to many cats and dogs and he was always a proud supporter of the RSPCA. Holidays were always enjoyed with camping and caravanning trips back to Dartmouth, these were special times with many wonderful memories created.

Bill was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and will be fondly remembered.

Family flowers only please. Donations can be made in Bill’s memory on behalf of RSPCA Lancashire East Branch.
