Memorial Book

Peacefully on 20th April 2026, Roman, aged 96 years, formerly of Oswaldtwistle. The devoted husband of the late Margaret; loving dad of Christine and Bernadette; dear father-in-law of Stuart and Neville; cherished grandad of Christopher and Nadine; proud great-grandad of Bergamo and Otto; dear brother of Zbyszek; and a respected relative and friend to many.

Born in Bobrka, Poland, Roman moved to the UK following the Second World War. He settled in Helmshore and began his working life in the mills, later becoming a qualified specialised welder. He worked for many years at Bayliss Kenton’s in Blackburn. It was at a dance in Accrington that Roman met his beloved wife, Margaret. Together they shared over 60 wonderful years, forming a truly devoted and loving partnership.

Although England became his home, Roman remained immensely proud of his Polish roots and kept in close contact with his family. He loved holidays, was a keen driver, and enjoyed getting behind the wheel for days out. He especially cherished trips to Scotland and Austria, places that held a special place in his heart.

Roman was a kind-hearted gentleman who was always willing to help others.

He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, and remembered with warmth and affection.

Family flowers only please; donations, if desired, are being gratefully received in his memory on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.
