Obituary Notice

On 10th July 2026, Pete suddenly passed away on holiday, aged 67 years of Great Harwood formerly of Baxenden. He leaves behind a family who adored him. The dearly loved and devoted husband to his Queen, Gail, a much loved and loving dad to Emily, Jack and their partners Mark and Elle. A cherished Grandad Pete to Milo and Macie and treasured Grandad Pit to Albie, and a dear brother, brother in law and uncle.

Pete dedicated his entire working life to Tesco, becoming one of the company’s most respected and admired Store Managers. His leadership was about kindness, fairness and genuine care for people. He knew his staff, valued every customer and always put others before himself. His commitment and success earned him awards, recognition and admiration from everyone who had the pleasure of working with him. His proudest moment came when he joined the prestigious millionaire club and he wore his commemorative tie with enormous pride.

He loved his home and the door was always open. As long as everyone had a drink in one hand and a plate of food in the other, Pete was happy, especially when sharing his legendary chips and curry. He had a wonderful gift for making people feel welcome and his heart was always thinking of others.

Retiring at 55 opened a new chapter for Gail and Pete as they travelled, sometimes with friends, making wonderful memories around the world. One of the most special surprises came when he whisked Gail away to the Maldives to celebrate her 60th birthday.

His BMW was his prized possession, and he passionately followed the F1 and Manchester United.

His grandchildren brought a whole new layer of happiness into his life. He was a fun grandad who loved to play with them, they shared a love for crazy golf and his trademark nose rubs became a special tradition. Time spent with Milo, Macie and Albie brought out his silly side and he adored them as much as they adored him.

Always smiling, endlessly kind and wonderfully generous, he encouraged those around him to become the very best versions of themselves. He celebrated the successes of others more than his own and quietly supported his family through every stage of their lives.

Pete leaves behind a lifetime of love, friendship and treasured memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved. He lived well, loved deeply and gave generously.

Donations in lieu of flowers in Memory of Pete are being gratefully received on behalf of Diabetes UK

Even from early childhood, when our two families were growing up together, all off to Pontins every year, Peter’s light always shone through with his loving, caring and kindest ways. He was always a gem and a wonderful man. A tragic loss of such a special man. Our hearts go to Gail and all the family for this the most saddest loss.

Pete or (Reg) as he was fondly called, always immaculately turned out, a true gentleman, with a great sense of humour. We shared a few great holidays together, where he loved to catch up on his sleep as much as anything. He worked hard and was well respected at Tesco for his knowledge and approachable personality. I know that when he met Gail he was very happy and even more so when his children came along. Rest in peace Reg. X

Pete was one of those people you never forget. Kind, caring and always there for the people he loved, he was a wonderful husband to Gail, an amazing dad to Jack and Emily, and a proud grandad. Family meant everything to him and together Pete and Gail welcomed Elle into the family with open arms. Pete was taken far too soon, but he lives on through the love, kindness and memories he leaves behind. He will be missed every day and remembered always.

Fantastic tribute to one of the best store managers we had in Tesco. I worked for Peter in Blackburn as his bakery manager and then alongside Peter as a store manager. He was fun, knowledgeable, a great sounding board and a real good laugh on our nights out! It was a great honour for me to organise his retirement do, everyone came as everyone respected Peter so much!
So sorry to Gail and family, a real shock. Rest in peace Peter xxx

It’s true what people say, that the good ones are taken first. Pete was still so young and had everything to live for, his loving family always came first and he has made a hole in their hearts that can never be mended. I will remember my times with Pete (reg) we had great times and holidays, very happy times with so much laughter and banter and plenty of curries. A friend if ever you needed him. Good night Pete rest in peace.
