Obituary Notice

On 18th June 2026, peacefully in hospital, with his loving family by his side, Michael, aged 75 years, of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly loved and loving husband of Pauline, much-loved dad of Kathryn and son-in-law Andrew, and devoted G-Man of Tabitha.

Michael was very well known in the area as the local hairdresser on Pickup Street. Always busy and always friendly, he loved people, loved to talk, and had the wonderful ability to find common ground with everyone he met. A larger-than-life character, Michael had the most distinguished laugh; you would often hear him before you saw him. He was always laughing, full of humour, and had a real love for life.

Michael was also a keen cyclist and loved nothing more than cycling around the Ribble Valley, enjoying the fresh air and the outdoors. A keen gardener, he was at his happiest when outside. Michael loved his holidays, especially to Greece and Italy, where he enjoyed the sunshine and a glass of ouzo.

Michael had been a lifelong Beatles fan. First and foremost he was the most caring and devoted family man. He doted on Pauline, his childhood sweetheart and together they were the perfect pair. A true family man, Michael will be remembered with so much love, today and always.

Donations in memory of Michael are being gratefully received on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice.

Dear Mike❤️ We did not knew you very well, but it feels different. We shared the love for Kokkari, we met there the first time many years ago and since that we met you and your lovely wife some years in Kokkari. I just know that you were a wonderful, always positive person with a great smile embracing others with this energy. I still can not believe that you are now physically gone, but I am sure you are still around and taking of your loved ones. Mike, whenever I will drink an Ouzo, i will think of you. Sending a lot of love to you and your family❤️

Knowing Mike has been an excellent pleasure. He was such an interesting person, fantastic hairdresser and one of life’s good guys. I’m glad he gave me the chance to act with my Grandad and we were able to enjoy so many happy memories together on and off stage at Youth Club and during the Millennium. Me and my Grandad used to go and get our hair cut together with you on Barnes square. He had an art for script writing and bringing people together. We really loved him! I’m so sad to have known that he has passed. Another one of the good ones gone too soon! I am thinking of his family at this difficult time.

Spending time with Mike and Pauline in Kefalonia was always a joy and we have have many happy memories of which we will never forget. Paradise will not be the same without Mike.
Pauline, our love always to you and your family.

We first got to know Mike through our shared love of Kokkari. We have been fortunate to share evenings of pork chops, too many ouzos, moon gazing, and special trips to Vouliotes. We have so many happy memories of all the times we spent together with Mike and Pauline, and are grateful to have known him.

Ursula

I will always remember Mike as funny, interesting and never stuck for conversation or a witty repost. He's left this world too soon and will be sadly missed. RIP Mike

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Mike. He was such a larger than life character. We have very fond memories of him and Pauline in Kefalonia. His laugh was infectious and we spent many a happy evening with them at the Paradise listening to his many stories. Rest in peace Mike and may Pauline and her family find comfort in the coming days knowing how Mike was so well thought of by so many.

Elaine & Chris

Michael brightened up the lives of all those with whom he came in contact through his humour, laughter and fun. We were so glad we were among them- he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and condolences go to Pauline, Katherine and family. x

It was an honour to have known Mike.

To be in his company was a joy. His laugh was legendary as was his constant banter done with such good humour.
We always enjoyed being with him and Pauline on holiday, lunches out or quiz nights.
We have raised a glass of ouzo (or two) in his memory here at Paradise Beach a place he loved and which loved him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Pauline and his family.

God Bless Mike.

Rest in peace Mike,

I can’t believe you’re no longer with us. One of the most genuine, kind hearted and selfless people I’ve ever met and someone I’ve always looked up to, having known you since I was little when my mum used to bring me to your shop every few weeks for a hair cut and the Burnley/Blackburn banter was brilliant between us.

And in recent years we reconnected and found middle ground in following Accrington home & away, having a good laugh in the process. I’ll be cheering extra for you when I go and watch Stanley & I’ll save your spot in the Clayton End, just as you loved every other week. Going to miss your incredible wit, knowledge and your infectious laugh. Life won’t be the same without you.

Thank you for everything Mike and for showing me genuine kind hearted people do exist, rest easy and I’m sure we will meet again one day pal.

Lots of love and best wishes to Pauline and family,

From Jamie, Abbie & Georgia 🕊️

Sad to hear about Mike, great bloke. Cut mine and my sons hair for years until he retired. He was a great one for Am-Dram and brilliant in 'Allo 'Allo!. We will miss him.

Michael had a zest for life that was obvious the moment you met him. Always a smile, a great laugh and fun conversation. His love for Pauline was lovely to witness and his love for Greece was infectious. We will toast an ouzo in his honor next time we are there. You will be missed and we wish Pauline and the family much heartfelt love at this time.

I think we only chatted with you at St Anne’s in what feels like not too long ago- such a shock. Prayers are with you. Mike- rest in peace now

Roy

Fondly remembered. He was an 'institution' on Pickup Street.
I believe he knew everyone for all the right reasons.

Sadly, I didn't get to know Mike very well, but I can still hear his laughter at Cavos bar in our beloved Kokkari. I was in shock when I read that Mike had passed away. I can still see Mike and Pauline walking through the village, where Mike so lovingly supported his wife.

Pauline, I wish you and your children much strength and courage, now and in the future. All the best and my condolences.

Greetings from Kokkari
