Obituary Notice

Surrounded by her loving family, Lynne passed away peacefully on 2nd July 2026, aged 69 years, of Oswaldtwistle.

The dearly loved and devoted wife of Tony, a treasured mum to Mark, Graham, Emma and Sarah, a much-loved mother-in-law to Claire, Kirsty, Stuart and Jason, a proud and cherished grandma and great-grandma, a beloved sister of Ronnie, best friend of Lorna and a dear relative and friend to so many.

Born and raised in Oswaldtwistle, Lynne spent her whole life in the community she loved. She was immensely proud of her roots and built a life centred around family, friendship and creating happy memories with those she loved most. An active lady throughout her life, she loved sport. She enjoyed playing badminton and later discovered a love of bowling, becoming a valued member of Immanuel Bowling Club as well as secretary. A lifelong Blackburn Rovers supporter too and proud season ticket holder, Lynne rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on her beloved team. Whether she was on the bowling green or spending time with friends, she was happiest in the company of others. Lynne also loved to travel and holidays abroad brought her enormous happiness, particularly holidays to Nerja, where she and Tony returned many times over the years. Those precious trips became treasured and unforgettable memories.

Lynne’s working life reflected her warm and capable nature. Beginning in office administration with Joseph Arnold’s before progressing to become secretary to the Sales Director at Walker Steel, Lynne earned the respect of colleagues through her dedication and professionalism. She then became the school secretary at Hippings Primary School for over 25 years. Lynne’s home was a place of warmth, laughter and togetherness, where the kettle was always on, the door was always open and there always seemed to be room for one more. Lynne loved entertaining and was the life and soul of every party and was the most wonderful host. Her much anticipated Boxing Day gatherings, were legendary, bringing family and friends together.

Lynne will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and infectious warmth. She had a wonderful way of bringing people together, making everyone feel loved and leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever held close in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Donations in lieu of flowers are being gratefully received on behalf of The East Lancashire Hospice and Cancer Research UK

Maggie Tunstall & Family

I was so shocked and greatly saddened to hear of Lynne"s passing last week. I remember Lynne so well because both of my sons Christopher & Stephen and many of my Foster children attended Hippings Methodist School when Lynne was the school secretary. Lynne was always kind, friendly and very good with all of the children - she always treated them firmly but fairly and had a great sense of humour. My sincere & deepest sympathies to Lynne's husband & family members.

You took me under your wing when I was widowed. You were the one I could talk too. We shared many laughs. We once partnered in a doubles comp, when we went on the green you had brought the wrong woods, you had Tony's, that created a good laugh between us. A lovely lady I am proud to have known. RIP .

Well Lynne, what can I say...Everytime we met up we'd be in stitches remembering Ash's hen party and why we'd spent so much more money than anyone else. Then we'd remember lining everyone's drinks up at the bar and then we'd drunkenly knock them all over...then repeat and repeat. Also you were dancing up on a table/stage thingy just after having your hip replacement 🙈 We ended the night in the same bed, snoring away. You lost your phone and Tony said "well what do you expect, you're a Perkins". Lovely lady who I'm so happy to have spent many happy family times with and lots of laughs. Will cherish the memories xxx

Steve Miller and Kath.

I knew Lynne for over 25 years, she was so full of life every time we saw her and always made us feel part of the family. The loss hurts so much and cancer is such a cruel way to end such a wonderful life. I find music helps at times like this. The lyrics from a very well known song’ Heaven , must be missing an Angel’. Not anymore, she has arrived. I hope Lynne rests in peace. Love Steve and Kath.

Lynne you were the first person who greeted me with a huge smile, when I arrived at Hippings school for my interview, you made me feel welcome and at ease straight away. You were an amazing colleague and like a big sister to me during difficult times, always there for others. You are going to be missed by so many people and I am truly devastated that you have been taken from us. My condolences to Tony, Mark and Graham and all her beautiful family xx
