On 16th July 2026, peacefully in East Lancashire Hospice surrounded by the love of his family, Ken passed away, aged 77 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted and loving husband of Evelyn, much loved dad of Yvonne, Graeme and the late Scott, dear father in law of Glen and Danielle, cherished grandpa of Harrison, Calen, Darcie and Kai. Also a much loved brother, brother in law and uncle.
Originally from Glasgow, Ken moved to Clayton-le-Moors in the early 1980s. You could take Ken out of Scotland, but you were never going to take Scotland out of Ken.
He was a skilled lithographic printer first working in Simplicity Patterns in Blantyre Scotland, before moving down to Lancashire where he worked at Broadley’s then Joseph Arnold and later Hambledon Studios. When the company became Hallmark Cards, Ken spent the next ten years commuting to Bradford before finally retiring at the age of 63.
At home, Ken was at his happiest. He loved being in the garden and was the most amazing cook whose super tasty soups were legendary in the family. Becoming a grandpa brought so much love and it gave him the greatest of pleasure sharing his love of football with his grandchildren. Always so proud of his family, Ken loved to be involved and it was so important that he kept up to date with all their news. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he was kind and generous.
Ken and Evelyn also enjoyed seeing the world together. They made wonderful memories on their Caribbean cruises and loved their times spent at their static caravan in the Lake District. Taking time to slow down and smell the roses.
Ken was dependable, hardworking and loyal. Remembered with love today and always 💙
