Peacefully, with his devoted wife Jean by his side, Jon passed away at Woodlands Care Home on Tuesday, 24th June 2025, aged 91 years.
Beloved husband of Jean, Jon was a much-loved brother to Frank, Brian, and Ken, and is reunited with his late sisters, Joan and Peggy.
Jon began his career as an instrument technician at AEI Salford, where he spent many dedicated years before finding his true calling working across the globe. His work took him to many places, and it was through this journey that he met the love of his life, Jean. The two were married in 1975, and not long after, embarked on an adventure together to Botswana, where they lived for around five years. During this time, Jon embraced his love of sport, becoming an avid golfer who could be found on the course nearly every day.
A lifelong Manchester United supporter, Jon never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team. He and Jean also shared a deep love for travel, spending sunlit days in the Algarve, Portugal, and making treasured memories on long weekends in Whitby Bay, Yorkshire.
In retirement, Jon discovered a new passion: clock and watch repair. He took great joy in restoring timepieces for friends and strangers alike, always welcoming a challenge with patience and skill.
Jon will be remembered for his warmth, his quick wit, and his generous spirit. He was deeply loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his presence will be missed dearly but remembered always with love and affection.
