Memorial Book
Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on 2nd May 2025, Joan, aged 85 years, of Rishton.
The devoted wife of the late John, much-loved mum of Anita, Margaret, Michael, Angela, John, and Joanne, a dear mother-in-law, and a cherished grandma to Helen, Christopher, Paul, Tracy, Zoe, Paula, Jodi, Christopher, Vikki, Jon-Ryan, Ashley, Sasha, Caitlin, and Macey. She was also a step-grandma to Daniel, Zac, and the late Christopher, a dearly loved great-grandma, loving sister to Margaret and Joyce, and a respected auntie, relative, and friend to many.
Born and raised in Rishton, Joan was a well-known and much-loved figure in the local community. She began her working life in the local meat factory, where she was always sure to bring home the best cuts for her family to enjoy. Later, she worked as a home-help, where her kind and caring nature shone through—always going the extra mile for those she looked after, earning the love and respect of all who knew her. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed nothing more than a good game of bingo, regularly attending halls in Rishton, Great Harwood, and Oswaldtwistle. She also loved her holidays, both in the UK and abroad, with Italy and Tenerife among her favourite destinations. In later years, she especially cherished trips to Wales with her sister Margaret and brother-in-law Andrew. Above all, Joan was a devoted family woman. She adored her grandchildren and took great pride in their achievements, no matter how small. She was always eager to hear about their lives and adventures and lit up whenever they came to visit.
Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory of Joan are being gratefully received on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.
