Obituary Notice

On 19th October 2026, suddenly but peacefully, Janet aged 67 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly loved and loving wife of Dave, much loved mum of Simon and Emma and daughter-in-law Cath, a cherished grandma of Finley, Noah, Lydia and Owen, also a dear relative and friend.

Janet started her working life at Oxo before doing office work at various firms. She was first and foremost a family lady and the most doting grandma in the world. She adored her holidays to Turkey where she basked in the sunshine and enjoyed visiting Simon’s Diamonds where Dave loved to spoil her. Janet was a real sun worshipper and would follow it round like a cat. She loved pottering in the garden and planting up her tubs. A strong and definite character, Janet always called a spade a spade. Janet had the biggest heart of gold and always cared about others and would be the first on hand to help. She was a real softie with animals and when the travelling community descended on Champ carpark each year, she would bring water down for the horses. She adored all animals but particularly dogs and her Staffie, Benson was the apple of her eye. Janet enjoyed watching the soaps and A Place in the Sun on TV. An avid music fan, she had seen Beautiful South in concert more times than you could count and in her younger years loved the Bay City Rollers. She was the greatest of fun and loved the freedom of her little 125 scooter. She had no sense of direction and Dave often had to talk her home by identifying landmarks and road signs.

Janet was much loved and leaves many happy memories and hearts touched by her love.

Donations if desired in memory of Janet are gratefully being received on behalf of Dogs Trust.
