Memorial Book
On 22nd March 2025 suddenly but peacefully in hospital with her loving family by her side, Gill aged 65 years of Clayton Le Moors, the loving and much loved wife of Allan, cherished mum of Neil, Nick and future daughter in laws Sam and Sammie, devoted, cheeky and fun grandma of Harrison, Ava and Millie, loving sister of Gareth and dear auntie of Martyn and Rebecca.
Gill started her working life at the pickle factory in Oswaldtwistle, but soon realised that she was a true people person. She found her calling in the busy bakery on Pickup street Barnes Square, Clayton, where she worked for many years before bringing her infectious warmth and kindness to All Saints Primary School in Clayton. There, she became the beloved dinner lady, winning the hearts of all the children who passed through the school over the years.
Gill was truly a wonderful and lovely lady, fondly remembered as Clayton’s ‘mum’ to everyone. Her fun, daft sense of humour and caring nature made people feel better, and she never turned anyone away. She lived for others, and if any children ever fell down, they’d know exactly where to go for a plaster and a biscuit – straight to Gill.
Gill loved to cook and was famous for her Sunday roasts, where the door was always open and often up to twelve people could be found around her dining table, sharing love, laughter, and, of course, plenty of washing up for Allan! She also enjoyed shopping, but her true love for over 40 years was her soaps – Coronation Street and Emmerdale. She never missed an episode, and everyone knew that during her favourite shows, total silence was paramount.
Gill’s warmth, humour, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She touched the lives of so many and will forever be remembered for her loving nature and her ability to make every person feel special.
