Memorial Book

Suddenly on 8th April 2025, Fred, aged 81 years, of Great Harwood. A devoted husband to Christine, much-loved dad of Ian, dear father-in-law of Olivia, cherished grandad of Grace, Murron and Scarlett, and a respected relative and friend to many.

Fred spent his working life as a skilled moulder. When he was made redundant from his full-time role, he took a bold step and launched his own business, Ballpark Castings Limited. He poured his heart into his work and was admired for his remarkable craftsmanship and dedication. Fred was the kind of man who could turn his hand to anything, always well-prepared and with just the right tool for every job. From a young age, Fred had a passion for motorbikes. He loved nothing more than competing in trail riding competitions, a lifelong interest that saw him riding well into his 60s. He passed on this enthusiasm for motorsport to his son Ian, sharing countless memories along the way and in later years the tpassion for racing was passed down to his adored granddaughters.

Holidays were special to Fred. The family enjoyed many relaxing trips to the island of Jersey, along with cherished visits to Bournemouth. In later years, Fred discovered a love for travelling abroad, with Egypt and Tunisia becoming his favourite destinations. Above all, Fred was a devoted family man. He adored his three granddaughters and took great pride in their accomplishments, particularly in motorsport. Time spent with them was always a highlight, and he loved hearing all about their adventures and achievements. Fred was a loving and loyal husband to his beloved Christine, and in recent years he gave selflessly to ensure she received the care and support she needed. His love for his family was unwavering, and he will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the deep pride he took in those he loved.

  • Murron Parkington says:

My Grandad was one of the strongest and most loving men in my life. He always went out of his way to listen to my stories and always made time to show an interest in my hobbies. I’ll never forget the laughter we often shared and the many times we played in both his and my grandmas garden. He will be dearly missed. A true gentleman who always put family first!
    Love you Grandad xxx
