Peacefully, with his wife by his side, on 10th May 2026, David, aged 85 years, of Clitheroe and formerly of Great Harwood and Blackburn. The much-loved husband of Sue and the late Mavis; loving dad of Lee and Karen; dear father-in-law of Brett; cherished grandad of Harry and Ethan; step-father of Lisa and the late Nicola; proud grandfather of Chauntelle, Dominick, Rachel, Rebecca, Alex and Andrew; a loved great-grandad; dear brother of Beverley and the late Shirley; and a respected relative and friend to many.
A great lover of the outdoors, David enjoyed escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life with walks in the countryside. He was an active member of The Good Shepherd walking group, where he made many valued friendships through his passion for walking. David also loved travelling and enjoyed many long weekend breaks exploring cities across Europe. Through his beloved wife Sue, he developed a keen interest in history and architecture, and together they enjoyed visiting National Heritage sites. Among his many wonderful holidays, a memorable Nile cruise held a special place. Whenever the sun was shining, David could often be found outdoors, happily topping up his year-round suntan.
Kind, caring and a true gentleman, David could strike up a conversation with anyone and was always warm and welcoming. He spent his working life at Cobble Engineering as Personnel Manager, a role he took great pride in, always striving to do his very best, and always encouraged his apprentice’s to be their best and he was highly respected and remembered by many of them in later years. In his younger years, David kept himself fit and active, and in later life he continued to enjoy regular visits to Clitheroe Leisure Centre.
David was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
Family flowers only please. Donations are being gratefully received in David’s memory on behalf of Alzheimer’s Research UK
