Memorial Book

Peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on 15th May 2025, David aged 84 years of Brockhall Village and formerly of Accrington. The devoted and much loved husband of Enid, loving dad of Diane and her partner Carl, Stuart and his wife Lisa, Michael and his partner Lorna , cherished grandad of Lauren, Ashleigh and her partner Bally, Brandon and his wife Marie-Claire, Samuel and his partner Chintu, Tasha, Maddie and Izzy, great-grandad of Annaleise, Harry, Mali, Rosie, Benjamin, Lailah, Alina and Zak and a loved relative and good friend to many.

David was a familiar and well-loved figure in the community, known to many from his long-running business, Hyndburn Metals, which he established in 1969 with his wife, Enid. A former scrap metal merchant, David took great pride in his work and built countless friendships over the years. An avid golfer, he was a dedicated member and former president of Green Haworth Golf Club. He also had a passion for travel, enjoying holidays both across the UK and abroad. His adventures took him far and wide, and he especially cherished his many winter skiing trips. David had a lifelong love of horses and, in his younger years, competed in carriage driving with his beloved horse, Prince. A man of many talents, he also possessed a wonderful singing voice. From his days in St Mary’s Church choir to impromptu performances among friends and family, David was always ready with a stirring rendition of his favourite Irish folk songs. Above all, David was a devoted family man. He was deeply cherished by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored spending time with him and sharing their life stories. His warmth, generosity, and boundless affection made him a central figure in their lives.

David was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will be treasured always.

Family flowers only please, donations are being gratefully received in his memory on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice.
