Obituary Notice

On 4th May 2026, peacefully in a private care home surrounded by his loving family, Dave passed away, aged 75 years of Accrington formerly of Wednesdbury, West Midlands. The devoted and dearly loved husband of Sue, loving and much loved dad of Sarah and David, cherished Grandad Dave of Jordan and Alfie. Also a loved brother, brother in law, uncle, great uncle and a dear friend to many.

Dave came to Accrington in 1975, having met his wife Sue on holiday. He was the Landlord of the Bridge Inn and the Grey Horse, before buying Greenfield Social Club in Rawtenstall and the Peel Park Hotel in Accrington. Following the purchase of the Peel Park Hotel in 2003, Dave renovated and extended the pub to its former glory, seeing it go from strength to strength before it was sold in 2022, when his wife finally decided to retire.

Dave enjoyed playing semi professional football for Accrington Stanley in his younger years, and playing golf and pool. Dave became the British Isles Open Pools Pairs Champion in 1982.

Dave was a devoted husband and father. He retired at age 60, and spent his remaining years enjoying time with his family and friends, and travelling all over the world. He continued his passion for skiing holidays with his daughter, Sarah. Dave completed a world cruise with his wife and daughter in 2025.

He will be deeply missed by his family, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Donations in lieu of flowers are being gratefully received on behalf of Alzheimer’s Society and British Heart Foundation.
