Obituary Notice

David, aged 66 years of Rishton, passed away with his devoted wife Joan by his side following a long illness. A much loved husband to Joan, loving brother of Eileen and the late John, and dear friend and relative to many. He also leaves behind his beloved canine companion, Winnie, who brought him great comfort and joy.

David spent much of his working life at the Royal Ordnance Factory (R.O.F) until its closure, after which he continued his career as an aircraft engineer at British Aerospace.

He had a passion for travel, with a special love for Cyprus, where he and Joan shared a holiday home. There, they created many happy memories together exploring the island, enjoying long, leisurely lunches at local restaurants, and soaking in the beauty of the surroundings. In his younger years, David also enjoyed relaxing pub visits for a pint or two.

An animal lover at heart, David gave a wonderful home to Max, his golden labrador, and later rescued Winnie from Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, giving her a second chance at life.

David’s request was for no black to be worn at his funeral in his words, ‘Just come as you are’. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Family flowers only please, donations are being gratefully received in memory of David on behalf of Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary and East Lancashire Hospice. Uncle David, you will be sadly missed. I will miss you at the family dinners we have when I come home and visit. Though I know we can take a little comfort knowing that you're now at rest and free from pain. Take care, love you.

You are out of pain and suffering now David but I will always be in pain at the loss of my beloved husband and friend.
You always meant everything to me and will forever. Our special memories will always bring a smile, if only we could meet again we could talk like we used to.
You will be in my heart and thoughts forever. Days and years will pass but I will forever remember you with silent (and sometimes noisy) tears.
Winnie sends her love to her "Daddy", She will miss you and your cuddles - you were always the best cuddler.
Take care my love, you will always be with me.

Love always
