Memorial Book

Peacefully, yet unexpectedly, on Tuesday, 10th June 2025, Colleen, aged 84, passed away at Royal Blackburn Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved daughter of the late George and Ivis, dear sister to the late Eileen Hart, and cherished aunt to John, Russell, Denise, and the late Wendy. Colleen was also a much-loved great-aunt and great-great-aunt to many.

Born and raised in Huncoat, Colleen later made her home in Clayton-le-Moors. She was a dedicated and hardworking upholsterer for many years at C.D. Pierce Furniture. Known for her vibrant personality and sociable nature, Colleen was a true “social butterfly.” She particularly loved her bingo outings with her best friend Brenda, always hoping for that next big win.

Colleen had a deep appreciation for sunshine and travel, enjoying many holidays abroad before developing a lasting love for the beauty of the British countryside in her later years.

Family was always at the heart of Colleen’s life. She found immense joy in watching her nieces and nephews grow and especially treasured Christmas, her favourite time of the year. She relished the festive season — from gathering everyone around the table to singing her favourite tunes. She was known for her good humour, often joking, “one more spud than a pig would,” and had a fondness for changing her Christmas trees, always insisting on “just one more.”

A lover of music, Colleen never missed an opportunity to sing — whether around the dinner table or on the karaoke stage, delighting all with renditions ranging from classic country to rock and roll.

Colleen’s warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family flowers only please, donations are being gratefully received in her memory on behalf of Cancer Research UK.
