We write this with hearts full of sadness, but also full of lovely memories of you, spanning many years.

When Debbie, Lisa, Claire and I were young, we used to come “up North” to visit and have sleepovers with Debbie and Lisa. You were always so lovely to us. If our mum wouldn’t let us do something, we’d say, “But Brenda lets us!”
Then she’d have to let us!☺️

You were Mum’s oldest friend, and although with the distance between us, we didn’t get to see each other as often as we would have liked, we always remembered what a truly sweet soul you were🥺

A few years ago, when Zac, Leo and I came ‘up North’ you marched us around Manchester with so much energy that we could hardly keep up! Zac thought you were epic—and even more so when, after turning down a cup of tea, you announced, “I’m having a big cocktail in Selfridges!”

More recently, when we met up in Marrakech, you walked around the crazy, buzzing medina many times, and nothing fazed you. You amazed us again with your energy and determination to climb all those stairs up to the rooftop bar. We spent a lovely evening together beneath the stars.

Brenda, you are the biggest star of all. Shine brightly, as you always did. We hope it brings comfort to your beautiful family to know how much you lived, laughed and loved—and how deeply you were loved in return!❤️

Debbie, Lisa and all the family, we’re thinking of you and sending all our love.

I’m so sorry not to be able to make the funeral but please know I will be thinking of you all!

Dear Brenda,

We’ve been friends for so many years, but I can still picture the younger versions of ourselves getting dressed up and going out dancing. I was always the bossy, stressful one, and you were always the calm one, telling me, “It’s alright, Joan,” with your beautiful smile and in that gentle way only you could.

Life took us in different directions, but whenever we got together, it felt as though no time had passed. We might have grown into two old ladies, but we were still those same two young girls, laughing at all our lovely memories.

Just like the song, you have been the wind beneath my wings through so many moments in my life. Your friendship, kindness and gentle spirit meant more to me than words can say, and I hope I brought you even a little of the comfort and happiness you gave me. I will miss you so very much and until we meet again, I will carry our memories in my heart and remember all the laughter we shared.

What to say about Brenda??

We first met years ago when the kids were small and we joined the school's PTA.
We became really good friends with Roy and Brenda. Good memories of Thursday nights, when us ladies would get naked in the sauna and have a good old gossip. We had great nights out; all nighter's at Rishton Cricket Club and fantastic meals out at fancy restaurants.
We had travelling adventures through France and Spain and fantastic parties at Sussex Road and in the garden at Harwood Road.
No-one was allowed to leave until they were all plastered!!
Roy would always insist on 'just one more drink' and Brenda would give him 'The look' that only she could give and say "ROY, HAVEN'T WE HAD A LOVELY TIME?" which translated means, it's time to go home.

Thanks Brenda, we did have a lovely time!
