Vinnie passed away in hospital on 18th August 2026 with his loving family by his side. Vinnie was a much loved and loving husband and best friend to Lorraine, devoted dad to Lawrence and Joel, loving father-in-law to Natalie and Abbie, adored grandad to Margot and Ivy, and a loving brother to Sal.
Born in Rochdale to Italian parents, Vinnie was immensely proud of his Italian heritage, but Accrington became very much his home. Sociable, charismatic and full of humour, he had an extraordinary ability to connect with people and seemed to make friends wherever he went.
His working life began as a weaver and then Vinnie became a driving instructor before he taught speed awareness online, and I suspect quite a few people who logged on expecting just a speed-awareness course, came away having made a friend.
Family was always at the heart of Vinnie’s life. He treasured his enormous circle of friends, loved travelling, particularly to Lanzarote and the Amalfi Coast, and gave his time generously to his local community through his volunteering with Prospects. He enjoyed planning their family holidays and loved a bargain. He adored his music, from The Sex Pistols, to The Clash, to Green Day. He liked to watch Bargain Hunt and The Chase on TV. The life and soul of every party, his barbecues were legendary.
Funny, mischievous, kind and wonderfully sociable, Vinnie brought laughter and lightness wherever he went. He lived life surrounded by the people he loved, and leaves behind countless happy memories and a very special place in the hearts of his family and many friends.
