Thomas Leonard Walmsley – Tommy

Peacefully with his girls at his side in hospital on 30th June 2024, Tommy aged 92 years of Rishton. The devoted husband of the late Brenda, loving dad of Elaine, Sandra and the late Jackie, dear father-in-law of Peter and the late Nick, a cherished grandad, great-grandad and great-great grandad, a dear brother of Freddie, Jean and Eileen and a dear relative and friend to many.

Former welder, Tommy worked his whole working life at Rishton Welding starting as an apprentice and working his way through the ranks. He loved his work and made many good friends over the years. Tommy was the most avid fisherman and he loved nothing more than escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life to enjoy the peace and quiet of the waters edge, no matter the weather, hail, rain or shine he would be there and over the years he has enjoyed many wonderful fishing holidays with trips to Scotland and Ireland. He was a regular face at Rishton WMC and enjoyed meeting up with his mates whilst enjoying a few whiskeys and a game on the bandits. In his later years he shared holidays with his children enjoying several caravan holidays, he was the most doting grandad and seeing his many grandchildren brought a smile to Tommy’s face and he loved passing on his vast knowledge of fishing to his grandsons.

Tommy will be sadly missed but fondly remebered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
