Ron Cowgill

Peacefully hand in hand with his beloved wife and surrounded by his loving family at his home on 19th September 2024 Ron of Rishton passed away aged 86. The devoted and much loved husband of Eileen, loving and loved dad of Neal and his wife Wendy, cherished and proud grandad of Leanne and Aaron, Louise and Chris and great grandad of Lyla, dear brother of Christine and the late Ken and respected relative and friend.

Ron was the most keen fisherman and country sports enthusiast and he loved nothing more than walking the fields and fells with his dogs or a trip to Ogden Reservoir or the River Lune to spend many happy hours relaxing at the waters edge whilst fishing for salmon and trout, his knowledge of fishing was vast, a knowledge that he lovingly passed on to his son Neal who would accompany him on his trips. A former engineer at English Electrics and Rolls Royce, Ron was a well respected member of his working team and made many good friends along the way. He enjoyed time out in the local clubs including Rishton Cricket Club, The Free Gardeners and Tory Club where he would enjoy a game of snooker whilst chatting away to his friends and enjoying a pint. At home he was a keen gardener and along with his beloved wife Eileen they would spend hours tending to their garden ensuring it bloomed in full colour throughout the seasons and Ron was well known for his stunning hanging baskets that he lovingly gifted to his friends and family. Ron was the most proud grandad to his granddaughters and he was always on hand to help out with whatever was needed.

Ron was loved by all who knew him, he will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
