Raymond Jones

On 26th May 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, Raymond aged 74 years of Clayton Le Moors.  Dearly beloved husband of the late Joan, dearly loved father of Simon and Dawn, loving stepfather of Karen, Michelle, Joanne, Donna and Lindsay, dear brother of John, Eric, William, Leonard and Carl, and a much-loved grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend of Sandra.

From a young age Raymond had always worked, starting his first job at Frank Ireland Builders in Waddington before spending the rest of his career as an HGV driver for many different companies over the years, until retiring in his late forties due to an industrial accident.

Raymond loved his holidays, especially caravan holidays where he would like to be the one to carry out all the cooking especially BBQs and Sunday Lunches.  Raymond and his late wife Joan lived in Spain for five years and shared their time between there and the Caravan Park in Read.

Raymond loved watching snooker with his Grandson Marcus, and he played in local pool teams for many years.  Cooking at home – trying new recipes and dishes was another favourite. He enjoyed many train journeys with his brothers, visiting different places in particular Agricultural shows where they would spend time looking around the machinery, especially the tractors and trucks.

Raymond loved his family time, and he will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those who loved him.

Family flowers only please. Donations are being gratefully received in Raymond’s memory on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. To donate please click the ‘Make A Donation’ button at the bottom of this page.

I was best friends with Dawn for a long time at school. We would visit ray every weekend at the caravan in Reid, walking over the viaduct to get there. We’d be seen frequently in the Walmsley pub (under age) just visiting ray as we just messed around in great Harwood. My thought go out to one of my best ever friends, Dawn, and her brother Simon. Love u always Dawn ❤️
