Pearl Green
On Monday 14th October 2024, Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Pearl aged 88 years of Great Harwood. Beloved wife of the late Joseph, much loved mum of Paul and Nicola, dear mother-in-law of Sue, Lee and Christine, loving grandma of Matthew, Abigail and Alexandra, dear sister of Angela and the late Clifford, Eileen, Jean and Vincent.
Pearl was born at Russell Place Great Harwood in 1936 to Florence and Charles Westwell. Pearl attended Western Council School in Great Harwood and upon leaving school worked as a silk winder for a number of years until meeting Joseph in Whalley, whom she married in August 1961, moving to Great Harwood in 1962.
Pearl became a housewife and mother until starting work as a dinner lady at St Wulstan’s school in Great Harwood for over 43 years up until her retirement. Whilst carrying out her work at the school Pearl was also a hairdresser in Great Harwood.
Pearl and Joseph enjoyed their holidays together especially visiting Canada seeing her younger sister Angela.
Pearl was a devoted grandma whose life revolved around her Grandchildren, spending lots of time with them travelling all over the North West of England on countless days out. Pearl also loved to bake for her family.
Lovingly described by her family as a fiercely independent person, Pearl always knew what she wanted and how she was going to achieve it.
Pearl was a selfless and very giving person who was generous with her time and would often visit people in hospital.
Pearl will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
