Patricia ‘Pat’ Cronshaw

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family on 31st March  2024 Pat aged 87 years of Burnley. The devoted wife of the late Bob, loving mum of Ann, Ian and the late Kenneth, dear mother-in-law of Gemma and Jacqui, cherished grandma of Kenneth, Lara, Natalie, Christopher and Joe and great-grandma of Mae and Isaac.

Pat was the former corner shopkeeper at Marlborough Street Burnley before embarking on her nursing career aged 38 years which began with a Nursing Auxiliary position before qualifying, she was a most talented nurse and it wasn’t long before she was promoted to Nursing Sister and then Senior Nursing Officer at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Pat was always a well respected member of her working team and highly respected by her colleagues and those in her care.  Away from her work, Pat loved the simple things in life, she was content with what she had and never wanted for more. Her family was the centre of her universe and Pat loved nothing more than gathering the family together and Christmas time was always a special time for Pat when she would take great delight form giving gifts to her family. She loved fish and chips and no matter where she went this would be her chosen dish always followed by three scoops of vanilla ice cream. In her younger years, Pat enjoyed trips to Scotland and she loved to add to her collection of Royal Doulton figurines. At home Pat could spend many happy hours reading romantic fiction, enjoying antique programmes, watching John Wayne films and musicals and  watching her favourite TV series Last of The Summer Wine over and over again.

Our precious Grandma Pat truly lived her life for her family. Together with Grandad Bob, they brought so much laughter and love to our precious Ken, Lara, Natalie and Joe’s lives, and equally to mine.   Our children were so blest to know the love of their four grandparents, and to both my own parents and myself, our precious Pat & Bob were truly the most wonderful of ‘parents-in-law’ which is a rare and precious gift in this life.   Grandma’s last years were not easy, but the love of our family up North, particularly Ian & Gemma, and very much so, ‘The Boys’, as Ken & Chris were always so lovingly called, and then their girls, precious Abbie & Nicole, helped bring joy to Grandma’s life, while Ken  & I and our own growing family, visited as often as we could. Ann’s love brought a peace to Grandma.  Grandma unfailingly welcomed each new member of our family, with great joy and an open heart, so our precious Rob, Phil & Kate became part of Grandma’s fold. Grandma’s smile was never bigger, than when she was with her family, and in her latter years, how radiantly she smiled for her beautiful great grandchildren. Grandma’s precious, little great granddaughter Mae, who so loved her, ‘Pattie,’ always delighted in ‘Pattie’s’, ‘singing’ and, ‘ventriloquist’ antics. When Natalie & Phil were over from their home in America, earlier this March, our whole family were so blest that our precious Grandma Pat was able to meet, her precious, little great grandson Isaac Kenneth, at just eight months old; we have a precious, little photo to share with him.   It is a heartbreaking twist of fate, that I am now in America myself.  I am truly, deeply so sorry that I will only be with you all in heart and in spirit. You will all be in my thoughts and in my prayers, especially my precious Lara, Rob & little Mae, Joe & Kate.  Thank you with all my heart for all you are giving of yourselves to be with our precious Grandma Pat, my precious Mum-in-law, today.  Thank you, Ian & Gemma, with all my heart for all that you have given to make Grandma’s days better, more peaceful days, than we could ever have managed without you, and for organising everything now for our precious Grandma Pat, even the live stream.  Thank you all forever, most of all to you our precious Grandma Pat & Grandad Bob for all the love we share.   May you both forever, be happily and peacefully together, with our precious Ken, always in our hearts, guiding us on our way.
