Memorial Book

Mary Alice Pazdzior On 24th October 2024, peacefully in hospital, Mary, aged 94 years of Clitheroe. Dearly beloved wife of the late Stefan. much loved and loving mum of Patricia, Lesley, Kathryn and Denise, also nan, great gran and loved sister of the late Gordon and Carole. Mary began her working life in the mills, where her keen eye and skilful hands quickly earned her the title of the fastest pinner in the North West. She never missed a stitch, and her precision and dedication led her to teach others her craft. After marrying Stefan, Mary became a full-time mum and loved her home. If she wasn’t working in her garden, she would be inside re-decorating or trying out new ideas she had discovered in craft magazines.  Her talents as a seamstress were evident in the beautiful clothes she made, which included Tricia’s wedding dress and all of the daughter’s bridesmaid dresses. Later in life, she returned to work as a cleaner for Steele Solicitors, where she became a firm friend of Pat Mercer’s and an integral part of the Steele’s family, keeping their offices pristine until she retired at 78. Mary was a familiar sight walking to and from work and out walking her beloved dachshunds. Mary loved the simplicity of her routine and was known for her honesty. She was often sought for her sound advice which she delivered with warmth and wisdom – but you always knew where you stood with Mary. Her love for family was clear, especially in her role as a loving, creative and awesome nan. She delighted in entertaining her grandchildren, turning simple things into hours of fun and memories. She wanted everyone around her to be happy and for many years arranged Christmas coach trips to pantomimes in Manchester or Liverpool – something which everyone looked forward to and many remember to this day. Mary was truly a character, a special one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed by her loving family.
