Peacefully at Belvedere Care Home, on 13th October 2025, Martin aged 78 years, formerly of William Street, Accrington. The devoted husband of the late Gillian, loving dad of Janette and Martyn, dear father-in-law of Steven and Catherine and a cherished grandad of Sam and Alfie.
Martin dedicated his entire career to life at sea, working as a ship’s cook from the moment he joined the Merchant Navy as a teenager until the day he retired. He loved his work, travelling the world many times over and often spending months at sea. When back home in Accrington, Martin was a familiar face at local pubs and clubs, always enjoying a pint and good company. A true motorbike enthusiast, he had a passion for bikes throughout his life and never missed a chance to visit Belle Vue Speedway. Martin lived simply and happily, surrounded by a close-knit circle of loyal friends. He found joy in the little things—especially relaxing to his favourite country and western music. He and his beloved wife Gillian shared a deep love for Benidorm, often escaping to its warm sunshine for peaceful relaxing holidays together for up to month at a time.
Above all, Martin was a devoted grandad to Sam and Alfie, always eager to hear about their latest adventures. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
