Margaret Southworth
Peacefully at Henley House on 11th October 2024, Margaret aged 87 years of Accrington. The devoted wife of the late John, loving mum of Gillian and John, loved mother-in-law of David and Anita, cherished grandma of Charlotte, Nathan, Scott and Emily and great-grandma of Scarlet and Poppy and a respected relative and good friend to many.
Born in Kent, Margaret made the move to Accrington following her father securing his new job. She started her working life at the Co-op on Blackburn Road and also taught ballroom dancing. Margaret later worked Rists Wires and Textile Mouldings, wherever she worked she was always a popular member of her working team and made many good friends along the way. Margaret loved to be out and about, she enjoyed dancing and bingo and each Saturday she would be off out with her husband John, meeting up with their many friends whilst enjoying a drink or two. She was the most doting family lady and Margaret always looked forward to gathering the family for a party and she always ensured there was plenty of food and drink to go around.

Plenty of childhood memories of Margaret. Camping in the garden in the summer holidays always shredded wheat with hot milk for breakfast. And bonfire night the best black peas I have ever tasted. Lovely lady. Thanks for the memories. Sleep tight. RIP.

My upmost condolences to all the family, we only had your mum in Henley house for a short time, but her family are absolutely lovely, always visiting frequently and making sure Margaret had everything that she needed, and couldn’t thank the staff more, which is much appreciated, it was a pleasure to look after your mum, especially with such a wonderful family surrounding her xxx mum
