Memorial Book

On 18th May 2025, Jean, aged 78 years of Rishton, passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by her loving family. The devoted and much loved wife of the late Wilfred, much loved mum of Neil and Lee, much loved mother in law of Lisa, adored ad cherished nana of Charlotte, Abbie and Joel, great grandma of Phoebe, Hallie-Mae and Bertie, also a doting and adored ‘dog mum’.

Jean held a variety of roles throughout her life – she worked as a barmaid at The Lidgett, spent time in a leather factory, and later dedicated over twelve years as a carer for Townfield in the community. Caring for others came naturally to Jean, and she truly enjoyed looking after people and was always keen to chat and learn about their lives. She had a lifelong love of horses and rode in her younger years. She was also an avid reader, particularly fond of a good murder mystery, getting her books from the library. A great fan of television, Jean never missed an episode of Coronation Street or Emmerdale, and she would never answer the phone when The Chase was on. A real glamour puss, she was always beautifully presented, taking great pride in her appearance. Her hair was always perfectly styled and coloured, her make-up flawlessly applied. Always and ever, lovely to look at. Jean and Wilfred shared many happy times together, especially during their stays at the Elgin Hotel in Blackpool. Jean relished the people-watching, loved playing bingo, visiting the amusements, and soaking up the evening entertainment. She was happiest amidst the lively bustle of it all. A familiar face at Otto’s each morning, she had her regular seat by the window so she wouldn’t miss a thing. And of course, Jean adored her dogs, each one treasured and thoroughly spoilt. Jean was a devoted family lady and was the cornerstone of her family. She will be so sadly missed. by them all. Jean – remembered with love, today and always.
