Memorial Book

Peacefully in the loving care of Henley House on 21st February 2025, Jean aged 89 years formerly of Rishton. The devoted wife of the late John, loving and loved mum of Colin, Ian and Fiona, dear mother-in-law of Lynne, Russell and the late Karen, adored grandma of Lois and Jemma, cherished great-grandma of Lola, Lacie, Alban and Finn, dear sister of Colin and his wife Maureen and a respected auntie, relative and friend to many.

Born in Rishton, Jean began her working life at Palatine Mill, where she met John. Love blossomed, and the pair shared a long and happy marriage, truly devoted to one another. After the birth of her children, Jean took on the role of full-time mother and housewife, raising her family while keeping the household running like clockwork. When she returned to work, she became a shop assistant at ‘Shoe Box’ in Great Harwood, quickly becoming a well-known and much-loved face in the community. Jean always greeted customers with a warm smile and loved nothing more than catching up on the latest gossip while helping them find the perfect pair of shoes.

Jean adored her holidays. In her younger years, family trips were spent visiting various Pontins resorts across the UK, and later in life, she enjoyed travelling across Europe. She spent many wonderful times in Spain, Majorca, Malta and Cyprus where she could relax and soak up the sun. A true social butterfly, Jean had many friends and loved her Saturday nights out, chatting away over a few drinks. Above all, she was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, always incredibly proud of her family and their achievements.
