Jean Lord

On 7th May 2024 peacefully in hospital after a short illness, surrounded by her family. Devoted wife of the late Derek, loving Mum of Donna, Daniel and the late Jacci, dear Mother-in-Law of Matt and Michelle, much loved Grandma of Sam, Robbie and the late Ben also a dearly loved Auntie and friend to many.

A well known former secretary at All Saints’ Primary School who was appreciated by fellow colleagues and pupils. Jean was a highly respected figure in the local community, being a devout parishioner of All Saints’ Church, volunteering her time to help with church activities. She loved to keep fit and regularly attended her daughter Donna’s keep fit classes at Clayton Baptist Church.

Jean was an active member of Great Harwood Creative Writers, U3A and the Women’s Institute. She was also a regular face at Great Harwood Golf Club where she was former Lady Captain.

Jean and Derek were well known figures in the motorcycle trials community, Jean with the family supported Derek whilst he competed in events around the country. They spent many family holidays at the Scottish Six Day Trials and on the Isle of Man watching the TT Racing, in later years they enjoyed relaxing whilst on cruises.

Most of all, Jean was a loving and doting family lady who adored spending time with her nearest and dearest, she will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
