Hilda Poole

On 6th April 2024, peacefully in Hope House, Hilda, aged 86 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly loved wife of the late Tom, devoted mum of Mark and daughter in law Dawn, cherished granny of Sarah and Rachel, and loving great granny of Ellie-Mai, Levi, Jake, Archie and Molly.

In her working life Hilda had several jobs –  in the mills, cook and dinner lady at All Saints School and her final position was as finishing assistant at Joseph Arnold’s for thirty years. Hilda enjoyed her work and made so many friends. Friends were always important to Hilda and she loved to have fun. Many evenings spent playing Bingo and Hilda had a great social life. She also liked to keep fit and enjoyed swimming with her good friend Heather. Hilda was at her happiest in the heart of her family, enjoying holidays and being a most doting nan and great nan to her extending family. She loved to spoil them all and treated them all with equal fairness. Hilda was a great character. She loved to watch darts, was a top shopper – even when she didn’t need something. She and Tom truly shared a wonderful marriage and were a perfect partnership in every way. Hilda will be dearly missed by her finally and friends.
