Harry Coley

Peacefully in Bury hospital on the morning of the 11th January 2025 Harry aged 79  years of Cloughfold and later life of Sabden and Whalley.  Loving dad of Steve and Michael, dear father in law of Toni and Terri, devoted grandad of Morgan and Chloe and a devoted partner to Brenda and much loved friend.

Harry started his working life as an office worker at the age of 16 years old,  he then moved on to sales and buying which saw him moving on to becoming chief buyer and purchasing manager at Main Gas, Padiham.  After a successful 20 years he was head hunted by Volex Pencon who happened to be his previous supplier.  After being made redundant, employment soon found him due to his reputation, in the form of Leighton packaging Leigh.  After boredom set in Harry found himself at Polytech until he retired in 2014.  He carried on for a further 2 years doing charity work.

Harry was a runner and a keen footballer in his school years, both for his school and town (No4 right half in Harry’s own words ‘those days none of this midfield jazz’).

Harry also played golf and squash in his early years.  A keen cricketer playing for Cloughfold Methodist as wicket keeper, and he umpired at Chatburn cricket club in later life where his son and grandson were also part of the club.

Harry enjoyed meals out often, a true foodie.  he also loved to travel both in the UK and abroad.

Harry was loved and respected by all who knew him.  They truly broke the mould when they made him!
