Memorial Book

Peacefully in hospital on 10th October 2024 Geoff aged 88 years of Great Harwood and formerly of West End, Oswaldtwistle. The devoted husband of the late Barbara, loving father of Paul and Andrew, dear father-in-law of Christine and Mary, cherished grandfather of Sonny and Archie and a dear relative and friend to many. Geoff was a well-known and respected figure in the local community, having followed in his father’s footsteps as the owner and managing director of Fred Kirkham’s Coaches. He was deeply passionate about his work, known not only for his dedication to his passengers but also taking pride in the quality of service his coaches provided. His commitment to his family was unwavering—Geoff was the epitome of a devoted family man, always ensuring that his loved ones were well provided for, giving them unwavering support and kindness. A man of many passions, Geoff had a deep love for music, especially jazz. His enthusiasm took him as far as the Caribbean to attend a renowned jazz festival, combining his two great loves—music and travel. Travel played a significant role in Geoff’s life, and over the years, he visited many countries, but it was Spain that truly captured his heart. Spain became his second home, where he and his beloved wife, Barbara, would spend several months each year. There, they embraced a slower, sunnier, more peaceful pace of life, enjoying long, lazy days in the sun next to the pool, taking leisurely walks on the stunning beaches, and chatting with passersby. Back at home, Geoff helped with his wife Barbara’s love of gardening, alongside their neighbours, Elsie and Ray. After a day spent working in the garden, they would often relax on their patios, unwinding with a drink, savouring the fruits of their labour and chatting into the late summer’s evenings. Geoff also loved to drive, often taking Barbara on trips around Lancashire in their open-top sports car.
