Geoff was born on Canal Street Clayton Le Moors later moving to Whalley road Clayton Le Moors.  Geoff attended Mount Pleasant School Clayton Le Moors then Accrington Grammar night school studying textiles.  Following his school years he started at David Whitehead’s at Prospect mill in Clayton Le Moors as an apprentice overlooker until its closure, he then worked at English Electric Co Ltd as a progress chaser in the aircraft section, after holding  various roles in different departments he was promoted to drawing and planning administrator in the production services department.  After 36 years service at English Electric Geoff took early retirement and following a break began working on a clothing and household stall on Accrington Market for around ten years.

An accomplished singer, Geoff was a lyric Tenor with a very wide vocal range.  From a young age he sang with the Bel Canto theatre group and many other local theatre companies playing numerous male lead parts.  Geoff sang with St James mission church choir, Leyland choir and many other choirs,  he also sang semi professionally around Lancashire and Manchester for churches during wedding and religious services.  Geoff could also play the piano and would often play whilst singing.  Singing was a passion he carried on until his later years.

Geoff loved to cycle in his younger days and later enjoyed his holidays abroad visiting Spain, Goa and on many occasions to Egypt.

Geoff loved cats and would often take in strays and he was never without a cat in the house.  Geoff was an active member of the community and was a member of Enfield residents association.

I liked Geoff a lot. Apart from his musical talent he was active in community groups such as the Enfield Residents Association and Prospects. A sad loss to the community.

We will miss you, but I feel grateful for the many happy memories that I will keep in my heart. I know you are singing with the angels now x
