Evelyn Woods

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family on 15th January 2025, Evelyn aged 81 years of Accrington. Beloved daughter of the late  Irene and Ernie, the devoted wife of the late Jack, loving and loved mam of Debbie, Karen, David, Mark and the late Baby David, dear mother-in-law of Tony, Kenny, Victoria and Wendy, cherished and doting nana of Kelly, Emma, Rachel, Amelia and Matthew, adored great-nan of Cameron, Dominic, Max, Harry, Pippa and Poppy, dear sister of Linda and Ann and a dearly loved relative and friend.

Evelyn was a force of nature in her own right, she was strong, determined and knew exactly what she wanted in life. She was a well known, loved and respected member of the local community. She loved her work as a barmaid Stanley Street WMC and Bold Street WMC where she was the former stewardess and with her hardworking ethos Evelyn had the club running like clockwork. She was a keen darts player and loved nothing more than a good sing and could often be heard singing her favourite tunes. Known lovingly as ‘The Benidorm Queen’ Evelyn always looked forward to getting away to her favourite destination with her beloved Jack for some well earned rest and relaxation in the warm sunshine enjoying her favourite tipple ‘A nice little whiskey & coke’ or a glass of red wine. She was the most loyal and loving family lady who embraced her whole family with love and each member of the family held a special place within her heart.

Family flowers only please. Donations are being gratefully received in Evelyn’s memory on behalf of Dementia UK. To make a donation please click the ‘Make A Donation’ button at the bottom of this page or send to the funeral directors.

Remembering Eve with great affection. As Jack’s second wife she had a difficult path to tread with the children of his first marriage. I first met her when Anthony (Tony) Jacks eldest son married my daughter, Louise, We liked her immediately and she impressed us with her kindness and warm personality. We enjoyed some fun evenings with her at various events in the years following that first meeting
