Edith Stanton ‘Eddie’

Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at The Grove Nursing Home on 16th August 2024, Edith aged 86 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted wife of the late Ken, adored and loving mum of Lynne, dear mother-in-law of the late Nigel, cherished grandma of Christopher and Gemma, great grandma of Willow and Robert, a dear auntie of Gillian and Gareth, great auntie and great-great auntie and also a dear relative and friend to many.

Following meeting her husband Kenneth, Edith made the move to be at his side during his service with the Army, they lived at various bases around the UK and abroad. They then returned to Clayton where she worked in various factories before taking her retirement from her position as cleaner at Rishton Working Mens Club.

She was an avid cat lover and gave the most loving home to her four companion cats. She loved a game of bingo and was a regular face at The Wilson Centre where she would meet up with her friends to try her luck at a game of bingo. Edith loved to get dressed and attend the Masonic Lodge Balls with Kenneth and would aways be adorned with a pair of eye catching earrings. She enjoyed a drink of Chinzano and each day she would have her tipple of Baileys. Holidays were always looked forward to enjoying family time staying in caravans at various seaside resorts around the UK. She was the most amazing cook and her whole family always looked forward to some of her cooking and baking treats and her meat and potato pie held legendary status within the family. To Edith family was everything and she loved nothing more than gathering the clan for a celebration.
