Brian Wilcox

On Thursday 5th September 2024 peacefully in hospital surrounded by his loving family, Brian aged 76 years of Burnley.  Beloved husband of the late Marian, dearly loved Dad of Louise, dear Father in law of Carl, loving Grandad of Chloe and Hannah, dear brother in law of Eileen and dear Brother of Pat and David.

Born in Colne, to Tom and Elsie Wilcox, Brian attended Lord St Primary School, Colne Grammar School and then studied Maths at Manchester University.

Brian’s first job after graduation was at Mullard’s in Simonstone as a statistician later becoming a manager.  It was whilst working at Mullards that he met his beloved wife Marian whom he married in 1971, welcoming their daughter Louise in 1976. After rising through the ranks at Mullard’s Brian became a senior Manager in materials management working both in Simonstone and Durham.  In the late eighties Brian took the position of Logistics Manager at Hilti in Manchester.

In his twenties Brian built and raced stock cars and used to play guitar in a band around Colne called the Griffins.  His love of music carried on throughout his life and he was a very keen guitarist, something he passed on to his daughter and grand daughter, Chloe.

Brian was a lifelong fan of Burnley football club and had only recently given up his season ticket, meeting his good friend Phil and the late Bob on the match every week.

Brian and Marian loved their holidays together and enjoyed wonderful family holidays to Greece and Spain, in more recent times Brian spent holiday time in Cyprus with friends.  Whilst at home in Burnley Brian would regularly meet friends in the local pub and he will be sadly missed  but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Above all Brian’s focus was his pride in and love for his family and in particular his two grandaughters Chloe and Hannah, with whom he had the closest bond. A wonderful father and grandfather.
