Brian Hek

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 16th December 2024, Brian aged 76 years of Rishton and formerly of Enfield, Middlesex. The devoted and loved husband of Lynn, loving dad of Adam, Richard and Jo, dear father-in-law of Matthew, cherished grandad of Hugh, Bryn, Gethin and Percy and a dear relative and friend to many.

Born in Enfield, Middlesex, Brian was a family man and began his working life at Enfield Rolling Mills as a Draftsman a career that he remained in all his working life. Following being made redundant, Brian made the move to Lancashire in 1987 settling in Rishton, a place that became home. He secured work at M & F Components then Brookfoot and also spent time working at Radford Shaw, Burnley and Precision Engineering, Rishton before he retired. Brian loved to tinker, he could spend many happy hours repairing things and he was blessed with the ability to turn his hand to any task. He adored food and was good at home cooking his family would always look forward to being treated to one of his meals. Brian was a man who loved to help others and this was shown through his service and dedication at St John’s Ambulance where he was a volunteer and member of the Blackburn Branch and was promoted to the position of Superintendent, a position that Brian always remained proud to have held, his service took him to various places including providing first aid at many Blackburn Rovers matches. He also had a passion for the fire engines and loved to collect models. He even bought his very own Fire Engine which he lovingly restored and cared for and took along to many shows to share with fellow enthusiasts of the Fire Service Preservation Group.

Brian was loved by his family and friends, he had a good sense of humour and would do anything to help. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.

Family flowers only please. Donations are being gratefully received in Brian’s memory on behalf of the residents fund at Townfield care home . This fund helps facilitate activities for the residents which Brian loved . Please make cheques payable to Townfield & Coach House Limited.
