Memorial Book
On 3rd February 2025, peacefully in Pendleside Hospice, Brenda, aged 91 years of Simonstone. The dearly loved wife of the late Les, much loved and loving mum of Steve, Phil and Bev, dear mother in law of Gill, Andrea and Jez, loving granny of Laura, Amy, David, Sarah, Rebecca, Jake, Alex, Joseph, Jaeger, and loving great granny of Owen, Emmeline, Rosie, Erin, Penelope, Leo, Isaac & Reuben. Brenda was a lovely lady whose warmth, dedication, and love touched everyone who knew her. Brenda first worked in a jewellers shop where she showed her sharp mind by mastering a secret code for pricing, which she could always recall. Brenda then went on to train as a dental nurse – a job she loved. The 1960s brought a new chapter for Brenda, Les, and their growing family as they moved to Lower Barn Farm in Sabden. This period of her life was filled with joy, laughter, and the hard but rewarding work of farm life and here Beverley was born, joining her two brothers. On the farm, Brenda became an expert at washing and filling milk bottles – an art in itself, and found great happiness in her role at the farm. Later on, Brenda became a beloved figure at Simpsons, Steve and Phil’s business. She thrived in her role, helping customers with her friendly smile, impeccable attention to detail, and, of course, a welcoming cup of tea. It was no surprise that her kindness and warmth made her a favourite amongst the customers, working until well in her 80s, never losing her sense of purpose or energy. She found joy in being useful and connecting with others. Brenda and Les were a wonderful partnership and Brenda created the loveliest, most loving family homes. Brenda and Les were a true team, building a life together that was a testament to their wonderful partnership. For Brenda, happiness was simple – if her family was happy, she was too. Nothing brought her more joy than seeing her family flourish, guided by the values she and Les had handed down. Such a lovely lady, Brenda showed us the beauty of a life well-lived. Her legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will continue to inspire her loving family. An inspirational wife, mum, mother in law, granny, great granny and friend. Remembered with love today and always. Donations in lieu of flowers are being gratefully received on behalf of Pendleside Hospice.
