Betty Rostron

On 19th May 2024 Peacefully surrounded by her loving family Betty aged 81 years of Great Harwood and formerly of Whalley.  Dearly beloved Wife of John, much loved Mum of Glenn and Stuart, dear Mother-in-law of Wendy and Gill, loving Nana of Jake and Amelia, and a dear Sister, Auntie and very dear friend to many.

Married to John for 60 years in her early working life Betty was a ladies hairdresser, then becoming involved in other businesses, The Mason’s Arm’s in Blackburn and a Fish & Chip shop in Hapton, then returning to ladies hairdressing in later life on a mobile basis.

Whilst owning a holiday home in Spain, Betty learned to play golf at San Roque Golf Club during a period when Seve Ballesteros was club President, and Betty was proud to receive a signed photograph of Seve.  Betty later became Lady Captain of Whalley Golf Club where both John and Betty had many friends.

John and Betty owned a narrow boat for many years which they thoroughly enjoyed with their family and friends.

Betty loved gardening, especially when she lived at her previous home ‘Longsight’ in Whalley, and was especially fond of pink and yellow roses.

John and Betty enjoyed many memorable holidays together enjoying some well earned rest and relaxation, their holiday together in Canada in 2013 will remain the most picturesque and enjoyable of them all.

Most of all Betty was a devoted family lady and loyal friend to many who will be greatly missed but fondly remembered.

The funeral will be a celebration of Betty’s life and her family kindly request that guests refrain from wearing black.

Family flowers only please. Donations are being gratefully received in Betty’s memory on behalf of Rosemere Cancer Foundation and Ribblesdale Ward Preston Royal Hospital. To make a donation please click the ‘Make A Donation’ button at the bottom of this page.

Donations may also be made at St John’s Church in a collection box provided by Champ Funeral Services.
