Memorial Book
Peacefully at her home surrounded by her Ioving family on 3rd June 2024. Lorraine aged 73 years of Rishton. The devoted and much-loved wife of Trevor, loving and precious mother of Rachel, Emma, Louise and Abigail, dear mother -in-law of Robin, Spencer, Jonathan and Ryan, cherished grandmother to William, Charlie, Harry, Nancy, Rupert, Herbie, Cuthbert, Egbert, Hattie, Dilly and Doris. A dear sister of Pat and Michael, treasured sister-in-law of Tony, Susan, Michael and Lynda and a loved auntie, relative and friend to many. Lorraine was well-known within the local community and her working life began at Broadloom carpets before moving on to Rishton Paper shop. She then started at Tesco, Blackburn, where she worked for over 25 years, she always had a beaming smile to welcome her customers who she loved to chat away to. Lorraine lived for her four daughters and loved nothing more than girly days out: shopping for bargains, enjoying lunches out and singing along at memorable shows. Lorraine enjoyed holidays with her family, from happy times camping and caravanning with Tony and Susan and in more recent years coach trips in the UK with her husband Trevor, where she met many more friends along the way. Lorraine loved spending time in her garden tending her flowers, chatting away and sharing cuttings and cakes with her best friend and neighbour Irene. Over the past 25 years alongside her close friends Lorraine dedicated her time to fundraising for the Christie Hospital. From bag-packing to summer fayres and craft projects galore Lorraine and her close friends raised over a staggering quarter of a million pounds sharing lots of laughs and happy memories. Over the past 4 years Lorraine showed bravery and strength as she fought her own battle with cancer. She received the best possible care from all the staff at the Christie Hospital. Lorraine will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Family flowers only please. Jeffrey and Eileen Eve Our most sincere condolences to you all , much love for Lorraine. Mike. Lorraine was my little sister, for 73 years we were there for each other to deal with whatever life would throw at us. I could call on her at any time & I always got the same reaction, her face would light up & she’d shout ‘it’s our Mike’ I always felt welcomed & cherished, although her initial remark was usually followed by ‘are your feet clean’. I am so proud of how Lorraine dealt with the last four years, she tolerated the brutal treatment without complaint or any self pity. She fought so hard to keep going as long as she could for her beloved family. They say you can gauge love by the pain you feel when you lose someone, well my pain is excruciating & unbearable, I will miss her so very much. I was blessed to have her as my sister, sleep peacefully Lorraine, our Mike.
