On 2nd January 2026, following a short illness, Anne, aged 70 years of Simonstone. The dearly loved partner of Len, much loved and loving mum of Charlotte and Declan, dear mother in law of Dan and Hannah, doting Nana of Theodore and Darcey, also a much loved sister, sister in law, auntie and much loved relative and friend to many. Remembered with love today and always.
Anne began her working life at Burnley Building Society before moving to St Christopher’s School in Accrington, where she worked as PA to the Head Teacher. She was brilliant at her job, organised, personable and calm. She was a natural communicator and mediator, and even though technology sometimes got the better of her, people never did. She was loved and respected by everyone. Anne always took great pride in her appearance. She was beautifully presented at all times with her trademark heels. She had a lovely warm humour, a constant smile and her distinctive ‘Anne” laugh. She had a reassuring presence, there was always a reason for everything and, in her mind, always a solution. She loved her home and had a wonderful eye for colour and design. Everything was immaculate with everything in its place. Holidays were another great joy, especially trips to Spain and Portugal, where many happy times were had. At home, Anne liked nothing better than settling down with ITV3 to watch the old detective programs or read a good crime novel – though she could never resist reading the back page first. Becoming nana to Theodore and Darcey brought her a new layer of joy. She adored them with her whole heart, teaching them by example, that anything done with love would last. That lesson is part of her legacy. Anne was kind, stylish, loving, and quietly strong. She made life feel calmer, warmer, and better. Even though we say goodbye, more importantly, we say thank you for the joy and beauty of her life.
