William John Plumb (Bill)

Peacefully at his home following a short illness, Bill of Great Harwood. The devoted and loved husband of Christine, loving dad of Stephen, David and Liam, loved step-dad of Rachael and Chris, cherished grandad of Karina, Faye, Grace and Henry, great-grandad, dear son-in-law of Beryl,  and a dear brother, brother-in-law, nephew cousin and friend.

Bill spent his working life as a tax inspector for HMRC, he enjoyed his work and always had a keen eye for detail. In his spare time he loved to get out on to the golf course for a round of golf and he was a member of Great Harwood Golf Club. A regular face in the Park Hotel, Bill loved to catch up with the results of his favourite football team Manchester United whilst enjoying a pint of Peroni. At home Bill loved to relax with his beloved wife Christine enjoying a glass of red or a whiskey. Bill shared a special bond with his son Liam, they loved to get out in to the open air and enjoy the countryside walking along the canal path where they spent time spotting the various wildlife and birds, they also shared a passion for steam trains. Although an outgoing and chatty man, Bill was at his happiest when at home surrounded by his loving family and he also looked forward to getting away on holiday and was always keen to explore new places. He was the most doting grandad to Henry and he welcomed him in to the family fold with open arms.

Donations may be made in memory of Bill on behalf of East Lancashire Hospice or Macmillan Cancer Support.
