Wendy Anne Whitney

Peacefully in hospital on 14th January 2026, Wendy, aged 85 years, of Wilpshire and formerly of Foulridge, passed away. A devoted and much-loved wife of David, a loving mum to Simon and Mark, dear mother-in-law to Sharon and Natalie, a cherished grandma to Daniel and Kate, a treasured great-grandma to Ryleigh and Taylor, a dear sister to Michael, sister-in-law to Linda, and a much-loved relative and friend to many.

Born in Bradford, Wendy moved to Foulridge with her family due to her father’s work. After completing her education, she pursued a career in teaching, working in secondary education where she taught English and Geography. Wendy was naturally intelligent and articulate, with a genuine passion for learning and for sharing her knowledge with her students. An avid sports enthusiast, Wendy particularly enjoyed badminton, and it was through her love of the game that she met her husband David. Together, they shared a truly wonderful life. Wendy also loved to travel and enjoyed many holidays over the years, with the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands among her favourite destinations, creating many happy memories. Above all else, Wendy was a devoted family lady. She adored her sons and grandchildren and took great joy in bringing the family together, especially for celebrations, which she treasured deeply.
