“If it’s possible to say we had a perfect funeral, then that is what we got on the day. Your presentation was excellent in every way and it would not have been possible to ask for anything more. In my opinion Champ Funeral Services is second to none”.

Helping you Plan the Perfect Funeral

Planning a funeral can be overwhelming. We provide step-by-step guidance to help you through this process, ensuring that your loved one’s wishes are respected and honoured. From choosing between burial or cremation to selecting music and readings, there are many decisions to be made. We offer comprehensive support to ensure every detail is thoughtfully considered. First, we will arrange an appointment with you to discuss the funeral arrangements, and our meeting can take place in the peaceful surroundings of our funeral home, at your home or other suitable location.

Guidance when Loss Occurs

Whether the loss occurs at home, in hospital, or suddenly, we are here to guide you. We’ll help you understand the role of HM Coroner and offer assistance with the registration procedure.

At Home – During working hours contact your GP surgery or your district nursing team. Out of hours, call 111 unless you have been given other instructions by your palliative care team. The usual GP, attending nurse or Paramedic can confirm that death has taken place. Champ can then be contacted to bring your loved one into our care, where they will remain until the time of the funeral, unless you instruct us differently.

In Hospital – The Bereavement Team at the hospital will contact you to give you instructions regarding the Death Certificate. This will be emailed to the Registrar and we will advise you at the time as different hospital and registrar procedures can vary.

Medical Examiner – Once the doctor has issued the Death Certificate, you will receive a call from the Medical Examiner who will discuss the circumstances of the death with you to ensure you have no concerns and also to answer any questions you may have.

Suddenly and Unexpectedly – HM Coroner is involved when a death is unexpected, unexplained or unnatural and a GP cannot be certain as to the cause. The Coroner’s Office will contact you to discuss the circumstances surrounding the death, and after liaising with the usual GP, a decision will be made whether to hold a post mortem examination to establish the cause of death. Again, we will advise you at the time.

Registering the Death

Once the Death Certificate has been issued, the death must be registered in the district it occurred. In most cases the Registrar will contact you to make an appointment to register. The Registrar will sell to you Copies of the Certified Entry of Death for legal purposes.

Tell Us Once – The registrar will give you a unique code which you can use if you want to activate this service online or via telephone. This lets you report the death within 28 days to most government organisations and council departments in one go. You will need to contact private insurance and pension companies individually.

Choosing your Funeral Home

A reputable funeral home will be happy to open their doors for you to compare services and facilities in advance, with no obligation. All professional funeral homes provide a classic option for those who want a cost effective funeral, but it is still your right to have good quality service.

Do you get a sense of genuine compassion, professionalism and care? You do not have to use the funeral home that is closest to you if they don’t meet your requirements or expectations. Carefully laid foundations at this time can make such a difference to your emotional wellbeing. The right funeral experience will provide lasting memories for you and bring much comfort during the most difficult days.

Funeral Service Options

There are three funeral service options:

Simple funeral: This is a fixed price service option which includes the essential elements of a basic burial or cremation.

Bespoke funeral: Totally personal to you and the wishes of your loved one. Whether you opt for a more traditional representation or a life centred celebration, there are many options and we will help you to create your unique experience.

Unattended funeral: This is a direct, unattended cremation committal after which the ashes are returned to you, unless you instruct us differently.

Price List

A detailed price list is available to view by clicking here.

At the time of arranging the funeral you will receive a written estimate of the funeral costs, which we ask you to sign. As per our Terms & Conditions, we request a minimum deposit payable before the date of the funeral. Should you so wish, you are welcome to settle the full account in advance. Otherwise, an invoice for the remaining balance of the account will be issued and payment of the account is due within 30 days.

Obituary Announcements

We activate an obituary notice on our website together with an online memorial book where loved ones and friends can leave a personal message. We can help you to write the obituary content and once complete, you can share the link with family and friends as we find it is an easy way to let them know about funeral details, flowers and donations.

Flowers

Flowers provide a beautiful, traditional way to honour a loved one. They bring comfort to family and friends, and many see floral arrangements as a symbol of sympathy and the beauty of life. You may choose specific flowers or colours. Our award winning florist is able to create the most personal designs. Today, it is more usual to have just one family tribute.

Donations in Memory

Alternatively, making a donation to a chosen charity or cause close to the heart of your loved can be a more meaningful way to remember. Donations may be made online via the personal obituary page on our website, or cheques payable to the charity can be handed to your funeral director.

“Thank you Lianna for your heartfelt words; there were many moving comments about your eulogy. Your kindness and support were amazing, and the professionalism of your team made our journey seamless”.
