Vera Beddis

Peacefully at her home on 12th June 2019, Vera aged 92 years of Huncoat.  The devoted wife of the late Desmond William, loving mum of Elaine and the late Stephen William, dear mother-in-law of Derek, cherished nana of Claire Louise and great grandma of Oscar and Olive.

Born in Padiham, Vera lived in Huncoat on Burnley Lane for 58 years.  She spent her working life in factories as a sewing machinist and finally retired from Wrist Wires.  She then had a part-time job at Huncoat Primary School as a playground assistant.

Holidays were special for Vera as she loved to travel all over Europe with her husband and they would spend several weeks at a time touring in the car.  In her spare time Vera enjoyed reading, knitting and quiz shows.  She was particularly good at maths and with her sharp mind, she loved to beat the contestants on ‘Count Down’, though her absolute favourite TV programme was ‘Open All Hours’.

Vera was a devoted family lady and her family were her life.
