Val Scott

On 19th December, 2022 suddenly at her home, Val, aged 75 years of Clayton-le-Moors. The dearly loved and loving partner of Peter, much loved mum of Sam and Dan, dear mother in law of Emma and Kelly, cherished granny of Callum, Caitlin and Jack, loving step-mum of Debbie and fiancé Mark, loved auntie of Anna and Harry and great auntie of Rachel.

Val began her nursing career in Scotland and then worked in London in mental health for a while before settling in Lancashire where she worked in Residential Homes. It was around 25 years ago that Cupid entered the arena and Val and Peter met. They were a perfect pair and shared so many things in common, both enjoying history and visiting places of interest. Val was a lovely lady with a ready smile and generous heart. There was always lots of laughter and Val was refreshingly honest, speaking her mind exactly as she thought. She loved her holidays, especially in Tenerife, and liked visiting new places – Glasgow was always a firm favourite and Val and Peter were always like tourists visiting the famous landmarks. Val loved a bargain and liked her clothes and she always looked lovely. She adored her home, enjoyed reading and was prone to the odd little cookery disaster. As her mobility decreased, Peter bought Val her very own electric buggy and it gave her a new lease of life- it was a wonder she never got a speeding ticket and shopping trips always turned into an adventure. She and Peter laughed until their hearts content and Val was much loved and adored in her family.

Being good friends with Dan in our younger days always found Val welcoming and friendly when I called in. Even in later years she always stopped for a chat in the shops or the street. Always a smile and a pleasure to see her. Sad loss

So sorry to hear of this. I’ve known Val for many years now. I remember how helpful and selfless she was to me personally when first we met. She was a kind and caring person – always putting other people’s needs before her own. A much-loved and reliable companion to Peter, I know she brought my brother much happiness over the last 26 years and will be missed not only by friends and family but by all who knew her.
