Sylvia Cottriall

On 15th March 2022, peacefully in hospital with her loving family by her side, Sylvia, aged 77 years of Mellor Brook formerly of Stretford, Manchester.  The dearly beloved wife of the late Nick and loving partner of the late John, much loved and loving mum of David, dear step-mum of Karen, Nick and Jason, also a dear mother in law of Simon and a loving grandma.

Sylvia began her working life as a secretary and, following the loss of her husband Nick, she studied accountancy and worked as the accountant at Bodycoat Int in Manchester, later taking early retirement. She met John and they shared a wonderful relationship and moved to Lostock Hall where they set up their own shop – Costcare. They sold everything in the shop and Sylvia loved the twelve years spent there. Following retirement, Sylvia enjoyed cruises but her real passion was Africa. For her 50th she trained with her son David to climb Kilimanjaro. Sylvia made it to Base Camp but an infection stopped her reaching the summit. She was also a breast cancer survivor and ran the Race for Life three times with her step-daughter Karen and Bella the dog. Sylvia lived a happy life and enjoyed reading a good crime novel and loved music – she was a ‘rock chick’. She will be remembered in her family, for being a wonderful example of living your best life.
