Susan Ann Houghton – Sue

On 7th July, 2023 peacefully, after a long illness, with her loving family by her side, Sue, aged 64 years of Billington The cherished and loving wife of Andrew, dearly loved sister of Glanys and Stephanie, also a loved sister in law of Moira, Ray and Darryl, a loving auntie to many and a much loved and dear friend.

When Sue moved to Whalley, she formed strong bonds with Virginia, Jennifer and Catherine while working at the Spar. The girls became great friends, sharing many memorable moments filled with love and laughter. When Sue joined CJ’s Sandwich Shop 20 years ago, she found a place where she felt appreciated and loved by everyone and Sue thrived on the family feeling. Meeting Andrew was a most significant event in Sue’s life, and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage together, having many shared interests, such as their love for nature and spending time outdoors. Longridge Fell held a special place in their hearts, and they often visited for walks and picnics, cowed hail, rain or shine. Sue and Andrew also cherished their time with friends, and socialising was an important part of their lives. However, some of Sue’s most favourite moments revolved around preparing dinner for Andrew and eagerly waiting for him to come home from work.  She loved cooking and had been an avid reader as well. She was practical, funny, and refreshingly honest. Sue will be remembered as a wonderful person. Her impact on those around her, her friendships and her loving relationship with Andrew, not forgetting her super sense of humour, will leave a lasting impression in the hearts of us all.
