I hope in this difficult time you are doing alright as I’m all too aware it’s easier said than done. Me and Abby both knew Steve through this passion for classic cars particularly the minis. Steve has passed both his excellent knowledge on to us both on many of occasion and also shown support for things we were doing of our own bat. He was a lovely man and his memory will live on with us both I hope this brings you just a little comfort in the current time of great sadness. He is a fave we will miss and I will miss talking too I hope to speak on the part of the mini community that if you need anything please let us know, yours Andrew and Abby.

My wonderful beautiful brother. Someone to go to for advice. Gave an honest opinion. Maybe not the one you wanted to hear. He was much like our Dad. If you asked the time, he’d tell you how the clock worked.. l wouldn’t have it any other way..I will treasure our childhood memories and hold on to them dearly. Good night and god bless. My Stevie

Tom Linklater

I Knew Steve for about 15 years, I first met him through my mum Christine who works at Harwood Baths and Steve came down to the newly opened gym and I became his gym instructor. Steve was a genuine nice guy who I talked to a lot in the gym when he would come in and we always had a good laugh. Every time I bumped in to Steve whether that be at the Baths, up queen Street, Tesco or at a restaurant he would always take the time to talk to me and my children, and have a laugh. He is a genuine Great Harwood Legend and will be sadly missed by not just me and my family, but a lot of people in our town. Rest in peace my friend

Lewis Adshead

I met Steve when I started a contract with Ultra Electronics, he helped me massively as soon as we met – even getting me a room at the B & B he was staying at. He could never do enough to help me out and I will always be so grateful for that. We shared a passion for minis so we always had plenty to talk about. I’ll never forget going to the pub after work and being shocked that he already knew everyone in there and the staff knew him by name and exactly what he was drinking! People tended to gravitate to him. He was hugely experienced engineer who was really respected at work, he will be sorely missed by myself and everyone who knew him at Ultra. My thoughts are with the family who he talked about so much I almost feel like I know. All the very best.

Diane Graham

Forgive me, I am living in Canada and I have only just heard the news… Steve and I went to the Parish School together and then St Christopher’s where we would often travel on the bus together – its been a long, long time since I last saw Steve (at the Park Hotel), but my memories of him remain strong – a kind and thoughtful soul. My sincerest condolences to his immediate family, mum, siblings, and friends.

Graham Jackson

I met Steve at a classic cars and coffee we got on immediately I was recovering from cancer and he insisted on giving me a lift home. He offered his skills as a design engineer for some structural mods to my classic car. I was gutted when he was diagnosed with cancer and supported him messaging throughout his treatment, he contributed on my cancer group. His passing came as a shock, he had fought through treatment came out the other side then to be taken by an illness. He was a true gentleman who would do anything to help and support others. My heart goes out to his family my thoughts are with you at this sad time. He will be in our memories for a long time. Rest in peace my friend.

Dad/Pops/Grumpa/Trumpa I’m so so lucky to say you are my dad, I can honestly say you have been an amazing Dad to Milly and myself. You’ve made a lot of sacrifices for us over the years (working away, etc) you have had such a strong work ethic and yet still always had time for your family. I’m so proud of how you have fought Lymphoma and were completing your last few rounds ready for a party to celebrate your birthday and life. As a family we hope to still do this and celebrate your life and how incredibly proud we are of you. My girls will always grow up knowing about their amazing Grumpa and the precious time they spent with you. You will always be our “twinkle, twinkle little star” above our house watching over us. All our love, Your Big Girl, Amazing Aria and Beautiful Bella. xxx

Dear Judith and family, I cannot even begin to imagine how devastating it has been for you to lose Steve. In spite of everything this year, he had shown his characteristic, remarkable resilience and verve, and we all thought he had come through his battle with cancer. I speak for many when I say his death has been an utterly tragic and incalculable loss to the whole community of people who knew him and loved him. Paul Mulhall wanted me to say something on his behalf: “Baby you can drive my car! Love you Steve, rest easy matey x”. I could not have put it better myself. Rest in pease, Steve. Your spirit and the memories we all have of you will abide forever.

Lauren Westwell

Such a heartbreaking loss, one of the most supportive and kind people I’d had the pleasure of meeting. May you rest in peace Steve. Love from Mouse x

I worked with Steve for around 2 years up to the first lock down, lovely chap, always had time for everyone and very good at his job. It was clear his family meant the world to him with Minis a close second! My deepest condolences to his much loved family x
