Sheila Walker

Of your Charity please pray for the Repose of the Soul of Sheila who passed away peacefully at her home on 2nd June 2024 aged 84 years and of Great Harwood. The devoted wife of the late John, loving and adored friend of Bernie. She was a God Mother to many and she adored her ‘little people’ Madison, Max, Teddy, Arthur, Alice, Harvey and Ivy. Sheila also leaves many dear friends who will all greatly miss her.

Shelia was the former wages clerk at Great Harwood Leather Works for around 40 years and following her retirement, Sheila took on the role as part time secretary for Doctor K.N Agarwal at Great Harwood, Sheila loved her work and she was super organised and had the office running like clockwork, earning the respect of her fellow colleagues. She was an avid life long Blackburn Rovers supporter and keen follower of Rishton Cricket Club and loved to keep up to date with her teams. Sheila was the most devout Roman Catholic and her faith was her guiding light throughout her life. She was an active member of St Hubert’s RC Church and each Wednesday sheila volunteered her time at The Saint’s & Ladies Charity Shop, Great Harwood. Sheila was the most loyal friend to all those who had the pleasure of knowing her and her home was a place where everyone was always welcome and she loved to chat away to her many friends. She loved animals and she gave a loving home to many much adored pet cats and dogs over the years. Holidays were always a special time for Sheila and she enjoyed many wonderful trips often accompanied by good friends Connie and Arnold, especially with visits to Route 66 and Central Park and she once enjoyed a trip to Australia to visit Judith and Steve.

Well you were definitely the Queen of our family. May you rest in perfect peace in the arms of the lord and the people you’ve missed so much that went before you. It’s absolutely pointless trying to find any words to express how we are feeling. You thought of others before yourself, you wanted nothing in life only for your loved ones to be happy, safe and content.  I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like without you , I’ve already wanted to tell you endless things . Sheila we all loved you so much , we were blessed to have had you in our life for so long. No one will ever measure up to you. Rest in peace lovely lady. Good night God bless. XXX

Shelia and John was a good friend to  the family they took my two young sons to their first rovers game over fifty five years ago and they have lots of memories of their time with them. But Shelia was a great friend to my late wife

Peter and Gill Caunce, and sons James, Thomas and David.

Farewell to a dear friend, who we will never forget.  Sheila, thank you for your incredible hospitality over the years, your kindness and your love.  We managed to stay connected all these years, despite the distance of many miles.  Thank you, Sheila, for always being willing to share your thoughts on Rovers, and taking us to Rovers games at Ewood Park when we visited.  Your beautiful, giving soul lives on in our hearts as you go to your final rest.  With much love and gratitude, Sheila!

What a wonderful lady Sheila was. I would like to say thank you to her for being a great friend to my mum. This friendship lead to Sheila & John taking my brother and I to watch football. Very soon we were travelling the country at weekends watching Blackburn Rovers. Great times ! Later in my married life Janet and I asked Sheila to be Godmother to our daughter Zoe.yes – Sheila was a true friend for life
